Gig Work

Gig work / Gig economy, is a type of work arrangement where people earn income through short-term or project-based jobs, often as independent contractors or freelancers: 

• Gig workers are people who work outside of a standard employer-employee relationship. 

• Gig work is often based on a contract or relationship between the worker and the person or company who pays them. 

• Gig workers often have more flexibility than full-time employees, such as setting their own hours and working from home. 
•  Gig work can include freelancing, temp agency work, self-employment, and subcontracted work.

• Technology has made it easier for gig workers to work remotely, and platforms like ridesharing and digital food delivery have grown rapidly.
